大學畢業后為什么想去支教？
What motivated you to become a volunteer teacher after you graduated from college?
?我覺得志愿性質的活動首先可以做貢獻，其次可以鍛煉人。所以支教的機會一出現，就努力去爭取了。
I consider volunteer opportunities a great way to give back and to build one’s character. So, when the opportunity appeared, I went for it.
在泰國支教，有哪些不尋常的體驗和收獲？
Did you have any unusual experiences in Thailand?
?和其他國家相比，泰國的條件已經算好了，但還是有些讓人心有余悸的經歷。當時是學校安排的住宿，打開后門就是濕地。有一次，眼睜睜看著從門縫滑進一條蛇，趕緊打電話叫人過來處理。第二次蛇再來光臨，我就自己拿著掃帚簸箕把它給請出去了。
There were countries with less favorable conditions than Thailand. However, I did have some spine-chilling moments during my stint there. There was a body of swamp behind my rented house. Once, a snake slithered in under the door right in front of my eyes. I panicked and called for help. But when that happened for the second time, I had already learned how to deal with it: I calmly scooped it up in a dustpan and set it free into the swamp. ?
?都去過哪里旅行？旅行給你帶來了什么？
Which countries have you visited? What have you got out of travelling? ?除了泰國，還去過印度尼西亞、馬來西亞、新加坡、以色列和約旦。旅行讓我開拓了視野，增長了見識，還讓我變得更加包容和開明。
I have been to Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Israel and Jordan. Travelling has rewarded me with experiences, knowledge, revelations, and open-mindedness.

你是什么時候發現自己對語言感興趣的？
When did you discover your talent for languages?
?初中時，老師帶著我們演英語小話劇，講英語相聲，寓教于樂，不亦樂乎，在我心里埋下了學習語言的快樂種子。
我曾經離開聯合國近二十年，在金融行業工作了近十年,?然后又回到自己熱愛的這個職業。誤入歧途，但迷途知返，此生大幸也！
In middle school, we used to produce small plays and do stand up comedy in English. It was so much fun. I guess that's when I fell in love with the art of language.
I was away from the UN for nearly twenty years, during which time I worked in the financial sector for ten years. I feel truly lucky to have returned to the job I love after having done something that did not really suit me.
?來聯合國工作后，遇到很大挑戰是什么???是如何克服的？
What’s your biggest challenge working at the UN and how do you overcome it?
聯合國文件翻譯，有時是個“枯燥”活兒，對人的注意力、意志力都是考驗。我從把文章翻得“漂亮”中得到滿足，給自己鼓勁兒。另外還要注意勞逸結合，保障睡眠，多運動，保持充沛體力。
Sometimes, translating certain UN documents can be quite tedious. I try to cheer myself up by producing especially apt translations that I feel proud of. I also ensure that I get adequate sleep and plenty of exercise in order to maintain a high level of energy.
?工作之余，有什么興趣愛好？
What do you do in your spare time?
?因為生長在文藝家庭，特別喜歡唱歌，對文藝的熱愛流淌在血液里。另外我還愛好寫詩、朗誦、打籃球。興趣愛好和工作是一樣的，都是在尊重自己的基礎上，自然而然地去發掘。
As I grew up in an artistic family, I love singing and all forms of art. I also like writing poems and playing basketball. Choosing hobbies is no different from choosing a career: both need to be rooted in self-respect and acceptance.

When did you discover your talent for languages?
從小學開始學英語，從英語實驗班到外國語學校，再到外語保送至英語翻譯專業，對語言的熱愛從未被熄滅。
I started learning English when I was little, and it was always my best subject at school. My passion for languages has never dwindled no matter what I do.
?你的聯合國之路如何開始的？
How did you start your journey at the UN?
我2015年進入聯合國實習，作為總部實習生代表向前秘書長潘基文發表演講，為實習畫上圓滿的句號。能夠作為一個小小載體將中國和中文在聯合國傳遞出去，我覺得很有意義。
I interned with the UN in 2015. When I finished my internship, I delivered a speech to the former SG as the representative of all the interns. Being able to represent my country and culture at such an event meant a lot to me.
?每天的工作中，喜歡的時刻？
What are your favorite moments at work?
我喜歡每次幫助同事解決問題后，同事們的笑臉，成就感滿分。
I love seeing the smiles of colleagues after I’ve helped solve a problem for them. That’s the best moment for me.
?在聯合國工作很大的挑戰是什么???你如何克服？
What’s your biggest challenge at work? How do you overcome it?
和之前在創業公司的工作經驗相比，聯合國的工作方法和工作環境非常不同。但我相信startup是一種精神，我用startup的精神把每一項工作出色地完成，以此找到平衡點。
The UN has a very different way of working compared to the startup company where I worked previously. I believe that startup is a spirit. I use that spirit to deliver every task with excellence.
?工作之余，有什么興趣愛好？
What do you do in your spare time?
我喜歡跳HipPop，爬山，在家逗貓。
I like hiking or playing with my cat. I’m also a hip-hop dancer.?

聯合國工作對你有什么特別的意義？
Does the UN job have any special meaning to you?
從前，只是簡單的工作——掙錢——養家。來到聯合國后，盡管依舊是工作——掙錢——養家，但更關心因污染給地球帶來的危害，也更關注那些因戰爭而流離失所的人。聯合國的工作讓我更多地思考生活：世界和平——家庭和美——身心健康，這些都息息相關。
In the past, I worked to simply make money and support my family. At the UN, however, I began to care more about issues like pollution and people displaced by wars. The UN job inspired me to reflect on the meaning of life. I realized that a happy family, a healthy body and mind, and world peace are all interconnected.
?工作之余，有什么興趣愛好？
What do you do in your spare time?
工作之余我喜歡繪畫。一草一木，一花一石，都是有生命的。她們并不起眼，卻頑強而美麗。繪畫的過程也是我與這些生命相互感染的過程。
I spend lots of time painting after work. Each flower, each tree or rock — they all embody life. They are inconspicuous but have amazing strength and beauty. Painting is a process in which I learn from them and become one with them. ?
